It wouldn’t be a proper start to the Shannon Center Aloha Series without free Hawaiian music on our patio. This season we are kicking it off with the wonderful Josh Chang.
Josh Chang is a Hawaiian musician, hula dancer, and instructor. Born and raised in Redondo Beach, CA, Josh grew up immersed in the Hawaiian language and culture. He credits his family for fostering his lifelong passion in the Polynesian arts. He is best known for his beautiful falsetto voice which led him to win the first Pacific Island Talent Contest in 2011. The following year, he gained national recognition with his debut album “Kaleo O Kanilau” and his second album “Kamau”. He is a recording artist for Kulia I Ka Punawai – Kumu Hula Association of Southern California, and currently teaches hula at UCLA and Hula Halau Kaulana Ka Hale Kula O’ Na Pua O’ Ka Aina. His highly anticipated Junior album “Dreamland”, scheduled for release this summer, features traditional and contemporary Hawaiian songs and chants.
