Come join artist Jay Gould as we celebrate the latest art exhibit in the Shannon Center Lobby.
Jay has been interested in art since he was a young boy, having been influenced by grandparents who were professional artists. Because Jay enjoys nature and the out-of-doors, painting “En Plein Air” is his favorite painting experience. He also paints in his studio, often completing plein air paintings there. Jay paints in three mediums: oil, watercolor and acrylics.
Jay has studied art most of his life through college classes, painting workshops, correspondence courses and private lessons; but is mostly “self-taught”. Jay has attended workshops in the High Sierras with Watercolorist Robert Reynolds (Fine Arts Professor at Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, CA) and an Oil Painting Workshop with Ron Chesley, (Instructor at The Art Center of Pasadena). He has studied with Ernie Marjoram, (The Art Center of Pasadena), Walter McNall, (member of the California Art Club), Alfred Tse and Pat Combs.
Jay enjoys plein air outings with, and is a member of, the Mid Valley Arts League and is a participating member of the Whittier Art Gallery, Whittier Artists Community and WhittierArtists.com. His paintings and photographs have been entered in numerous art shows.
And don’t forget to stay for the annual Enceladus Theatre Company production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” after the opening.
